The Brief Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (BBTi) is a program designed to teach physicians how to implement a brief insomnia intervention within a 10 – 15 minute office visit. The program is intended to be taught through a live streaming webinar or a self-directed on-line course. The BBTi Manual is provided as a reference. The Manual is accompanied by a 2 page BBTi Summary handout for quick review. There is a Sleep Questionnaire to be given to patients and used along with a Sleep Disorder Diagnostic Tool to help the physician identify the sleep disorders in the patient that can be identified clinically verses those that require referral for further testing. Give the patient the Good Sleep Habits program summary handout to follow each night. Ask them to complete the weekly Sleep Log and bring to their next session. When it comes time to wean off of their hypnotic medication, there is a Sleeping Pill Withdrawal Protocol for the patient to follow.
